Think Food

Good eating, good health, good community

Vision

Think Food is a social enterprise that promotes healthy eating, raises awareness of the social, economic and environmental impact of food production and develops employability skills within disadvantaged communities. Think Food wants people to experience the enjoyment of good food and to learn how they can have it. We invest a lot in the word ‘good’! We want our food to:

promote individual health and strong communitybe locally and freshly preparedbe sensitive to the impact of our eating on the environment and to producers by using where possible locally sourced or fairly traded ingredientstaste good!

We also want young people outside employment and education and others to have the opportunity to learn life and vocational skills through active engagement in the business.

We produce food in a number of settings:

Meet and eat: Our flagship eating place at the heart of Acorn House, the base for third sector organisations in central Milton KeynesThink Food Buffets: Providing food for all sorts of occasions, business meetings, conferences, training events, personal celebrationsFoundation House: Delivering breakfast clubs, community meals and celebrationsThe urban Farm: We hope to develop an eating place on our Urban farm site in Wolverton, creating a direct link between growing and eating Schools and community groups: Supporting schools in exploring food and promoting healthy eating with practical demonstrations and tastings.

Alongside the production of food that promotes a healthy lifestyle we want to support people with information and advice to help address the issues of obesity and poor nutrition. We will work with schools and community groups disengaged young people and families.
