Training

e2e Entry to Employment

Our e2e programme is for young people 16-18 years who are struggling to access training or employment. e2e is a stepping-stone that prepares young people for employment, training or further education.

e2e aims to develop motivation, confidence, social and interpersonal skills and helps participants acquire vocational knowledge and skills through sampling a range of work and learning opportunities.

Training lasts a minimum of 30 hours per week. During this time participants can be on work placement, work taster sessions, doing basic literacy or numeracy training, life skills or working towards a qualification.

Many of our young people on the scheme have experienced difficulty at school for many types of reasons, and whilst we offer literacy and numeracy at Foundation House, a lot of young people opt for work based learning in the form of work experience placements.

The scheme usually lasts for 22 weeks, and enables the participants to gain valuable transferable skills and a reference from the training provider - not to mention a training allowance of £40.00 a week, a bus-pass (after a qualifying period) and a travel allowance of up to £10.00 per week.

Extended Training

Extended training provides year 11 students the opportunity to complete their final school year in a supported learning environment which aims to give them the best opportunity at accessing further training or employment. Extended training follows the pattern of the academic school year.

Students are referred to us to by the LEA if it is felt that vocational training would be more beneficial for the young person rather than conventional schooling environment. The extended training programme is delivered alongside our e2e programme, which aims to develop motivation, confidence, social and interpersonal skills and helps participants acquire vocational knowledge and skills through sampling a range of work and learning opportunities.
