Foundation Training – Head of Learning

 

Job type:             Permanent, Full-time 37.5 hrs a week)

Salary:                   £26,500-28,500 pa pro

 

A unique opportunity to lead the learning team of an innovative training provider that uses social enterprise as a medium for learning.

 

Job Purpose

 

To lead the Christian Foundation’s learning and training, ensuring the best outcomes for the young adults who train and work with us. To:

 

  • Lead and coordinate our training team, supporting our teachers, trainers, assessors, Safeguarding, support staff and training administrators;
  • Ensure the high quality delivery of vocational, functional and personal skills training, assessment and accreditation in line with contractual and Government requirements;
  • Identify and take forward new opportunities for growing the use of our training model.

 

Background

 

Foundation Training provides innovative learning opportunities, within social enterprises, for young people who have struggled in more traditional education and training settings. We use our social enterprises to help young people to:

 

  • Build their confidence and self esteem
  • Develop vocational, employability, social and life skills
  • Grow skills and achieve qualifications in Maths and English
  • Identify the next steps towards more independent living

 

You will have:

 

  • Experience of leadership in education
  • Curriculum leadership and development
  • Strong teaching experience
  • Experience of working with young people with special educational needs
  • Ability to motivate, develop and empower staff
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven skills in quality improvement
  • Strong knowledge of Safeguarding and Prevent
  • A good grounding in understanding the expectations of OfSTED

Social Enterprise Craft Technician

 

Job type: Full time 37.5 hrs a week (mon-Fri. 9.0am - 5.00 pm)

                               

Salary £16,000-£17,000 pa pro rata

 

Sew and Grow is upcycling textiles using natural dyeing techniques to create range of products for sale and hire. Urban Beelievers, as part of their support for urban bees, is making lip balm and craft items from the by-products of their hives and bee-hotels to help us all to be more bee-friendly. The purpose of this role is to support Urban Beelievers and Sew and Grow to:

 

  • Produce low cost, good quality items for sale
  • Encourage the engagement of trainees in the activities of the enterprises
  • Run community activities to encourage engagement, learning and community
  • Support the maintenance of an online shop and good relationships with other sales outlets

 

The Christian Foundation is growing people and community through social enterprise. Our enterprises, staffed by young people and volunteers not in training or employment, work to change the world and people’s lives by reducing and utilising waste, growing and cooking healthy food, creating community spaces and energy, connecting and gathering diverse communities and supporting groups and families to play, learn and grow together

You will have:

  • Experience in a range of craft activities
  • An ability to, and experience of, working with young people                                      
  • Qualifications at level 2 or above in English and Maths                                        
  • Creative and good a problem solving
  • Committed to environmental sustainability, re-use and up-cycling
  • Strong team work skills and an ability to work constructively with others
  • A commitment to the completion of work and to the achievement of targets  
  • Professional and flexible approach to work and be good at working under pressure 
  • A clean driving license
